10-12, rue de Savoie
After eight years’ experience in the international art market at Sotheby’s in London and with the eminent Parisian “Antiquaire” Didier Aaron, Jane Roberts opened her own gallery in London’s New Bond Street in 1985, specializing in 19th and 20th century paintings and drawings.
In 1990, she returned to live in Paris, where she had, in her youth, studied Art and Art History and worked at the Cabinet des Dessins at the Louvre to set up a consultancy and gallery at which she sees clients by appointment only.
As well as offering a constantly changing selection of paintings and works on paper, she also provides her mainly British or American clients with welcome help in buying privately or bidding at auction in France or elsewhere. She also appraises works for insurance purposes and has been a member of the “Compagnie Nationale des Experts” since 2007.
The gallery also exhibits contemporary painters, sculptors and photographers at least twice a year.
Since 1987, she has been compiling the Jacques-Emile Blanche (1861-1942) “catalogue raisonné”. And she published the first monograph on the artist in English in 2012.
In 2017, she published a new edition of her 1987 book "Growing up with the Impressionists: the Diary of Julie Manet" at I.B. Tauris.
In 2011, Jane Roberts was made a « Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Arts et Lettres » for her services to French culture.
