PROVENANCE : family of the artist, Geneva
Essentially an engraver, Forestier studied at the Ecole des Arts Industriels of Geneva, and then went to Paris where he met the Nabis artists. He came back to Geneva in 1896, and collaborated in the Chinese shadows exhibit of the Sapajou theater for which he made this painting. He was a poster designer as well.
